Hannah Bronte

Hannah Brontë is a visual artist with ties to both Wakka Wakka/ Yaegl peoples living and working in Meanjin. Brontë's work explores the role of Indigenous/ Blak women within this world, through music videos, banners and large scale installations. Her work centres on resilience, matriarchal futures and challenging current societal structures. Bronte works hard to intertwine the knowledge of all her ancestors in each work she creates. Recently Brontë has included holistic, spiritual and physical healers as consultants for much of her work. Her new learning has led her to becoming a Doula looking at the beginning of life, the policing of women's bodies and the business of birth. Aiming to re-centre audiences through the experiences depicted in her pieces. Learning that in vulnerability lies strength. Brontë's work has begun unpacking intergenerational spiritual knowledge, which she feels is just the beginning of a new direction within her work.
