Pull up, pull up, pull up! Before the release of their blowup single ‘German’, No Money Enterprise had been using donated music equipment, held together by sticky tape. The Aussie Hip-Hop group started making music in a garage almost a decade ago, and have just reunited after a four year hiatus. Formerly known as No Money Records, the quartet want to give their suburb of Logan something to be proud of. And with over 20 million streams clocked up on ‘German’, it’s probably safe to say they’ve achieved that goal.
While they’re mostly focussed on making Hip Hop music, NME experiments with “multicultural vibes in our beats that create energy and hype”, and reflect their pride in their Polynesian background. When gigs aren’t seated, the band guarantee their live shows will have the crowd breaking a sweat in what they call the ‘NME Hype Experience’.
As relative newcomers to the industry, they hope their selection to join #TheBIGSOUND50 will help them to increase the visibility of their music and shine a light on Australian Hip Hop. They’re gunning for gold and platinum certification by the end of the year, and hope their success will see them share the stage with the biggest names in Hip Hop today. They plan to someday perform, write and make music all over the world.
