CLOE TERARE’S soul inspired lo-fi brooding pop is quickly placing Cloe amongst the best the country has to offer. Since the Toowoomba-based artist put out her first release just last year, she’s racked up stellar reviews from those at triple j unearthed, co-written with BIGSOUND 2019 stand-out DVNA, and even formed a new duo ‘Dayliites’ with accomplished electronic producer PACES. TERARE may have only made her first entry recently, but she’s shown no signs of slowing down any time soon.
“Music is definitely in my blood. I can't remember a time my family home wasn't filled with music. From late night band rehearsals for my parents, to guitars and a BBQ with my grandparents – it’s just been a part of my life forever and I've never really considered not having music as a part of my life.”
TERARE”S been on the ground at BIGSOUND in the past and is excited to be a part of the 2020 lineup. “to see the community and music lovers all meet in one place showed me it would be a very important part of my music journey and career. To be able to say I've participated in a BIGSOUND event means a lot to me, many musicians I look up to have participated and gone on to make incredible connections within the Australian music scene.”
With a steady slew of releases already in her rear-view mirror, CLOE dreams of “build[ing] a body of work I believe in and am proud to deliver; and to have a fan-base that I can connect with and give inspiration to.” Turning to the internet in the wake of COVID, Terare has been quick to make the most of the situation. “Zoom meetings, cross-country recording, international songwriting, live-streaming gigs - it’s all been a big learning curve for me but I'm here for it.”
