Melbourne-based four-piece and self-professed ‘quintessential album band’ Eastbound Buzz are bringing “alt-country and heartland rock” to #TheBIGSOUND50 this year. 2020 members of the unofficial triple j Unearthed 5-star review club, they’re stoked to be getting in front of publishers, labels and festival bookers as part of the conference.
"It’s a massive honour being included in #TheBIGSOUND50 this year alongside some of Australia’s best emerging talent. There’s a massive sense of camaraderie in the Australian scene, and honestly, other bands inspire us - continuing to meet and play alongside amazing talent keeps the passion alive!”
The guys have been playing together for 3 years, after more time spent performing with other bands. “Music is something built into us, and the more we’ve played together the more we’ve fallen in love with performing and connecting with people through our songwriting.”
Their high-energy live shows see punters up on their feet, “while still giving the slower songs and lyrics some space to breathe.”
“We're all really great friends and every time we play together we have the time of our lives.”
The band are champions of regional Australia - most of the band moved to Melbourne from Wagga and Echuca to take a crack at making their mark on the country’s musical landscape. “We know the importance of getting bands to regional areas and that is something we would love to work towards.”
And while 2020 has hit musicians hard, Eastbound Buzz say they’re bolstered by the people’s support of one another through trying times.
“The massive sense of mateship that has arisen in the industry as a result of the lockdowns is encouraging. Fans have really supported their favourite bands to show their passion in valuing music and encouraging sustainability. There’s going to be a massive wave of releases post-COVID and I think punters are going to be more keen than ever to get out and watch gigs.”
