#About Death By Denim

Border restrictions are pretty much the only thing that can keep Perth’s Death By Denim in their home state - last year, the indie-rock quartet sold out three national tours and successfully secured a slot playing Falls Festival in Byron Bay. Formed in 2016, the band incorporate a range of “sun-soaked synths, fuzzy guitars, smooth psychedelic vocals and punchy drums” into “an oozing musical melting pot”.

“It seemed like this band was something we were all searching for and together we thrive off the whole process of turning our ideas into recordings and putting them out to the world”.

With their debut album locked and loaded for release later this year, Death By Denim are looking forward to connecting with a host of new listeners as part of #TheBIGSOUND50. “Right now we’re fully independent, so at BIGSOUND we’ll be looking to connect primarily with labels, both here and overseas. Finding the right home for our music is really important, so we’re hoping to find the passionate people to take us into the alternative music markets in the UK, Europe and North America”.

While the pandemic has made DBD’s vision for the future a little murky, they’re still holding onto dreams of playing national and international festival stages down the track. “We are driven to keep putting our music into the world and seeing how the songs develop and where they take us.” And further on? “In 10 years, we are staged on the moon. Satellites amplify the sound into space. There is a beam of light…”

#About

Death by Denim are a four-piece alt-indie formation known for their high energy live shows, versatile songwriting, and tendency to wear outlandish combinations of denim.

Hailing from Perth’s coastal suburbia, DBD exploded onto the scene in 2016 after earning a converted spot at Southbound Music Festival.

DBD had a massive year in 2019 - completing three national tours, opening Falls Festival Fremantle for triple j Unearthed and playing a set at Falls Byron Bay. The band released their sophomore EP ‘Year Long Minute’ with breakout single ‘Wiggy’ added to full rotation on triple j and taking out a top 50 spot in the Unearthed most played tracks of the year.

This year Death by Denim will release their debut album, with singles ‘Homemade’ and ‘Out of Habit’ already receiving full adds to triple j and plenty of playlisting on Spotify and Apple Music.
